Thursday 17th April – Barbate

36:11.039N 5:56.018W

We awoke this morning to wind and rain.

However, the Sun will always shine on Pyxis whilst she is in Barbate, courtesy of Peter.  He saw that, as we had reversed onto our berth, we had a view of a concrete wall from our cockpit enclosure.  So, over night, he created a lovely chalk mural of the Sun, with palm trees, blue seas etc, to brighten the view from our cockpit.  We think he must be recovering from his cold!

During the day conditions have gradually improved and the sun has come out briefly, but tomorrow the wind is due to increase again with strong wind and rain forecast from the west, with further gales over the weekend.  So it looks like we may be in Barbate a while.

At lunchtime we headed into town to the local market to pick up some fresh fish and veg so that we do not have to go out tomorrow if the weather turns really awful.

This evening Lee and Barbara, a couple we met in Lagos, arrived on their Beneteau Oceanis 393 – everyone is now on the move.
