Wednesday 12th September – La Coruña

A nice, quiet, hot and sunny day here in La Coruña.  This climate is just what I like, so no complaints about staying a few days.

When we awoke we found another, smaller, cruise liner docked just across the way – it stayed only part of the day before heading off again on its travels.

After breakfast, we took a walk into town to explore the great indoor market nearby – lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish on offer.  We restocked on fruit and vegetables (for me) and then explored the supermarket which is just below it – where Richard stocked up on meat.

The forecast is still showing F8 and heavy swell off the Cape so people are sitting it out here in the sunshine until it quietens down a bit out there; we have a French boat one side and a lovely wooden German boat the other side also going our way, there are a number of other British boats here as well – the good news is that it is finally expected to quieten down over the next few days, so we are collectively thinking of moving on towards the weekend.

A number of new yachts made it in this afternoon having crossed the Bay – the weather in the Bay has been good for them until the last run down into La Coruña where it became a lot more uncomfortable (F7 and swell); we believed them having done that last bit ourselves.

This afternoon we have done work on the boat – cleaning, re-filling the water, replacing the gaz bottle, etc.  Richard is pleased – he has found a small chandlery much closer to the marina; I am pleased – I have been able to wear my bikini again all day.
