Monday 17th March – Mazagón - Chipiona

This morning we set off from Mazagón around 10am in light airs; this gave us a chance to run the water maker as we motored along.  It also meant I had a flat sea to be able to bake some bread for lunch.

After a couple of hours the wind built and we then sailed the rest of the way to Chipiona with increasing winds, giving us a nice lively passage, arriving at around 4pm.

During the trip we had to run the gauntlet of a thousand fishing pots, at times it was like working our way through a minefield.  There is a large old wreck off the coast of Chipiona as you approach the marina, close to the shore – probably as a result of trying to avoid ye olde fishing pots.

We were very tired but nevertheless, after mooring up, Richard dragged me round town to see if there was anything happening.  We called in at the tourist information for a map and a chat to a very helpful lady there.

Although quiet tonight, the town has some old streets and traditional houses, and there is a lighthouse that we want to visit so we will explore more tomorrow.  If we are still here on Wednesday they have a Semana Santa procession in the evening.
