Saturday 15th May – Epidavros (Wind and a little rain)

Before dawn we were awake and looking for the lee cloth to keep us in our bed – the wind was coming in on the nose (an unscheduled direction) and the swell following it in was getting a bit uncomfortable, reflecting off the quay and slapping the transom.  Eventually it eased and we slept late.

The day was grey and overcast and periodically threw down boulder sizes raindrops, bringing with it orange dust; Pyxis is now officially orange rather than white – we’ll have to change our documentation.

Feeling sportive, we chose a gap in the rain late morning to make another trip to the out of town supermarket – the wind was due to blow up mid afternoon so just time to get there and back.  We were only lightly rained on and it kept us cool as we cycled along.  This time I knew when to get off and walk, I didn’t attempt the hill.

The promised wind arrived late afternoon and was a bit lighter than expected (just the occasional strong gust to 35knots), and thankfully from a completely different direction to the morning, blowing us off the pontoon, rather than on, which was much more comfortable.  Better still, after just a couple of hours, it dropped right away and we had a quiet evening.
