Sunday 7th October – Lagos

We had a fairly lazy morning after having travelled for two days, hit the showers and then went to reception to change the entry cards which wouldn’t let us back onto the pontoon.

The marina has an ingenious method of ensuring you don’t spend too long in the shower.  They play loud 70s and 80s pop music in the facilities; you find yourself in the shower singing along and then you realise that you shouldn’t be enjoying this type of music, finish quickly and beat a hasty retreat.  When I got out of the shower it was empty – not sure if it was Barry Manilow or me singing along that got rid of them!

We wandered around the pontoons to see who else was here.  This seems to be the place that all UK boats come to hide out as nearly all the boats have a UK ensign.  The marina complex is very English too as it is surrounded by bars and even has a shop selling English newspapers.

The weather today has been scorching and even now, at midnight, it is 20C, but it is a dry heat which makes it more comfortable.

A couple of UK boats we met in Cascais came for drinks this evening.  One of them measured the sea temperature as they rounded Cabo de São Vicente and reported that the sea is 2 degrees higher this side than around the other side.  We seem to have entered a different climate.
