Saturday 24th April – Messolonghi

Today the wind switched on abruptly about 10.30 and has blown a strong easterly all day; it was time to take a break from fitting the cockpit enclosure to let our muscles recover from pulling and manhandling it into place.

So this morning we cycled to the Saturday street market in town and re-stocked the larder and called at the mobile phone shop to top up our Greek phone.

This afternoon I took the old sprayhood onto the foredeck and rinsed it off so that we can store it.  We are thinking it might be good to put the old sprayhood and cockpit enclosure on over the winter months so that the new one doesn’t weather so quickly.  Richard has worried the new cockpit enclosure some more, trying to stretch it into place, but it is too windy to do the final fitting.  We have also tidied up the boat and stowed various kit away as it had become a bit of a building site.

This evening I made calamari – it took a while to prepare, as they don’t come ready to cook here, but it was delicious.  Tonight the wind has continued to blow but fortunately we are in a sheltered spot in the marina.
