Friday 4th September – Paliokaravo, Kefalonia – Órmos Sívota, Levkas

This morning it was time to move on; we love this bay but need to explore further whilst we still have fine weather.

First we popped round the corner to Fiskárdho and dropped the hook just off the small bay at the entrance, in deep water alongside the large superyachts.  I kept an eye on Pyxis whilst Richard took the dinghy ashore to get fresh bread (well, I read my book and checked that we weren’t dragging occasionally).  When the hook came up, I could see I needn’t have worried from the amount of mud we’d collected.

We then came up to Sívota, a picturesque, enclosed bay surrounded by steep slopes, that we heard was much too busy with charter yachts to visit during the main season but thankfully has quietened down now.  When we arrived there were only a few boats around the quay with a few boats at anchor in the middle and we easily found a spot stern-to; we chose the end away from the tavernas and small shops as we thought it would be quieter, but it’s pretty quiet all round at the moment.

It is not a place for seeing a local Greek village as the village simply functions as a small tourist resort for yachts during the summer; nevertheless, the apartments that are springing up are not overbearing (or even finished in some places) and it is a pretty little place with nice olives trees that seem to be bearing fruit and a couple of tiny beaches where you can swim.
