Wednesday 19th August – Messolonghi (Mesolóngion)

Late morning we decided to fire up the generator as there is currently no electricity on the pontoon at this marina (there is also no charge for staying here so we can’t complain).

The generator started but after a few minutes stopped generating electricity to charge our batteries.  Richard topped up the petrol and oil and even looked at the manual to see if it was anything obvious.  He commented that it must be its birthday and sure enough when we checked our log, it is one year and one week since we got it.  Perfect timing to be out of warranty.

David came round whilst we were looking at it and said that he had had the same problem with his generator (the identical model) and it had simply been a case of needing oil (it has a cut-out) so we crossed our fingers and tried again.  No luck, still no charging L

After some lunch we ran the engine for a bit to put a bit of charge into the batteries but then David wheeled his generator around and so we ran that instead.  We may have to learn the Greek for getting generators repaired.

Early evening, Rosi and Otwin arrived on Enya and so the three boats celebrated being back together by going to a local taverna for some food.
