Saturday 15th September – La Coruña

Our last day in La Coruna, we tried to dry out after the previous two nights.  We spent the day preparing for our departure tomorrow, and late this evening, after dinner, had a walk around the old town.

We went to the main town square and across to the very elaborate town hall.  Being inquisitive, we wandered in through the very large and impressive doors that were masked with scaffolding due to renovation work.  The security guard didn’t pay any attention and we found ourselves in an art exhibition – just us, a lady at a desk, and a load of oil paintings hanging on the wall.  So, we sauntered round the exhibition (would have been rude not to), pausing and nodding where we thought appropriate before finding the exit before we were asked if we wanted to buy one.

We came back through the little side streets, lit up with all the bars and restaurants, brimming with life on a Saturday night; it’s great; age is no barrier to having fun here – everyone is out there, from young to old.

We have had a really enjoyable and settled time here and the little group of boats that have been here with us waiting for the weather to improve have all become good friends.  We are all starting to move on now, but we hope to see them again.
