Thursday 26th March – Cagliari (More scraping)

Once again the wind howled today, peaking at 39.4 knots and buffeting Pyxis in her cradle.

I continued with the propeller and Richard continued with the bottom of Pyxis, togged up from head to toe this time.

By the end of today, the propeller was shiny and the bottom of Pyxis was smooth and crustacean-less; apparently the cement left by barnacles on the hull contains a hormone which attracts new barnacles so it has to be thoroughly removed.

David popped over late afternoon and invited us to join them on Cape again for dinner so that we didn’t have to cook.  They were also joined by Gary from Wild Oats and we had a great evening, chatting with them.  After dinner, Lynne and Lon, their next door neighbours on Mascot3, popped on board for a nightcap as well.

We were a little tired after our exertions and retired a bit earlier than usual and left the others continuing.
