Tuesday 24th March – Cagliari (Chocking Off)

A night in the slings was actually better than expected.  We slept soundly until 4am but then the sound of the wind starting to gust woke us up; we then slept fitfully until morning.

This morning we swayed in the slings in the freshening breeze, feeling a little uneasy as the forecast was for the wind to increase during the day.  We were pleased when the crane was driven over to the low-loader and Pyxis was lowered onto it ready to move her into her position in the yard.

Unfortunately we then found out that when they had manoeuvred the low-loader down to us they had spotted a fault with the steering and so activity stopped until that could be sorted out.  We sat with Pyxis hanging in the slings of the heavy crane and supported all around by the large transporter; Pyxis wasn’t going anywhere even if the wind did pick up J

Whilst waiting we decided to start cleaning the underside; I tackled the propeller with a wire brush to clean off the crud and Richard set to with a scraper to take off any crustaceans that had been missed by the power wash.

Late afternoon the guys managed to finish repairing the low-loader and we were on the move up the yard to where we are now chocked off on a cradle.  Unfortunately our new view is into the boatyard of the marina next door and the boat that got blown over before Christmas L

This evening Cape, Wandering Dragon and Pyxis were invited to Mascot3 for dinner and they put on a lovely spread for us.

It was a clear sky this evening but the wind had reached 33 knots during the day.

Cagliari:  Safely on the transporter awaiting our final move
