Sunday 28th December – Cagliari (Poetto Beach)

We initially decided to have a quiet day again as although it was quite sunny, there was a gusting easterly wind which was quite cold.  Dad’s cold is gradually improving and the P’s are gradually getting used to being walked everywhere.

Despite the fresh easterly wind, our neighbour decided to take his boat out for a sail in the bay, possibly to test all the work the engineer has been doing on his engine.  We wondered how he would get on trying to park again given the breeze but we needn’t have worried – they arrived back around lunchtime and dropped straight back in the hole.

The fair weather seemed too good to waste and so we decided to catch the bus out to Poetto Beach for some fresh air and a walk.  We packed a flask with some homemade soup and a few sandwiches and headed off.

The beach was far less sheltered than the marina and the wind was quite strong.  We had a short walk down the beach, being blown along by the wind, watching the windsurfers and the kite surfers having a fantastic time in the surf.

We stopped for a coffee in a café by the small marina; the large picture window meant we could continue watching the wind surfing but in comfort.  Afterwards we found a sheltered spot and had the soup and sandwiches before heading back to catch the bus back home.
