Tuesday 23^rd December – Cagliari (City Tour)

Another sunny day – just a bit of thin cloud.

We were up and out early to take the bus up the hill to the old town.  After looking down at the Roman amphitheatre we wandered through the old town and down to the Cathedrale di Santa Maria.

We arrived at the cathedral at 12.00 just as it was closing but the chap on the door was kind enough to let the P’s in for a quick look around before he locked the doors (he let them out first). We then enjoyed a coffee at the cathedral café; we sat on the terrace in the very hot sunshine looking out at the view over Cagliari. 

Afterwards we went to look at the Torre dell’Elefante. As we wandered down to the Bastione San Remy we passed the library for the university and got a rare look at the magnificent old library where they were preparing for a recital this evening.

Having climbed down the steps at the Bastione San Remy we walked back to Via Roma and caught a bus along to the Basilica di Nostra Signora di Bonaria before walking back to the marina for a well earned rest.
