Monday 1st December – Cagliari  (Happy Fondue Anniversary)

Long term readers of our blog will remember an improvised fondue with Stephen and Anne from Wandering Dragon about a year ago in Lagos - our fondue kit was in UK (as was the recipe book).  Later, seeing a fondue kit on sale in the local supermarket, they decided it was an ideal present for us.

When we left Lagos we said we would do a fondue for them next time we met.  Well we met up in the summer but barbeques were the order of the day.  So now, as we happen to be together again, this time in Cagliari, it was time to finally roll out the fondue.  This time we even had the recipe book.

It was due to happen a week or so back but what with one thing and another (mostly weather, flu and dentists) it got postponed until last night.  As we sat down we all thought it must be about a year since we had had the last one, and after checking the blog, we realised it was exactly one year – well, it was one year less a day but after making an exception for the leap year it meant it was coincidentally the fondue anniversary.

Coincidence extended to pudding as well; last time I did a pineapple upside down cake, this time I had baked a tarte tatin – perhaps I just have a thing about upside down puddings.

Readers may also be interested to know that the problem with the oven which began last time is still a problem, despite various attempts to fix it, though Richard assures me he now has the parts to fix it permanently after our last trip home.  Well, we’ll wait and see…

Afterwards we had the requisite game of Scrabble – not a good result for us.
