Friday 21st November – Cagliari (The North-West Wind doth blow)

As forecast the mistral started howling through the marina early this morning and has continued to build all day.  The forecast is for the strong winds to continue for the next few days L  Fortunately it has remained mostly dry and sunny.

The marina staff have been excellent – going around all the boats to check that they are moored securely – tightening lines, making sure boats are clear of the pontoons, and putting additional ropes on some of the boats.  One boat needed a new mooring line at the front and by late afternoon they had a diver down to sort it out.

This afternoon we sat in the cockpit enclosure and played scrabble with Wandering Dragon whilst watching the world go by and keeping an eye on the boats.  We think they must have been practising as it was quite a tough game!  Stephen won in the end, Richard having been stuck with a Q and losing 10 points at the end.

The P&O cruise ship Aurora has been in today and left late afternoon – we think they have a bouncy night en-route to their next port.

Early evening Lon and Lynne from Mascot3 joined Wandering Dragon and us for pre-dinner drinks.

The wind is incredibly noisy and has not abated this evening, drowning out the sound of the film on the DVD – we will not be having a quiet night.
