Monday 27th August – Port Joinville, Ile d’Yeu

This morning there was a small but heavy shower as we had breakfast and then the weather cleared into a glorious day.  We could have gone sailing as the winds were favourable again but we decided to stay another night to see a little more of this island.

We explored Port Joinville in the morning, and, as it was so hot, came back to the boat for a relaxing lunch.  A holiday was declared and I sat with a book in my bikini (the first time a bikini has been out this holiday) and Richard wandered off for a potter around the local chandleries (baring his legs in his shorts again).  Unfortunately as we are both covered in bruises from the last few days of sailing, it wasn’t a pretty sight for the locals!  And we each now have a bit of sunburn to add to our bruise collection J.

I spent all afternoon on deck and I am writing this at 9pm after dinner, still on deck and still warm.  We can feel the temperature rising and so will move on tomorrow if the weather permits (as the forecast shows some rain coming through).  We are keen to get further south, especially as we can now start to feel the heat of the sun.
