Sunday 14th September – Mahón, Menorca

Another cloudy day, with occasional spots of rain, which brightened up enough for us to go for a walk ashore this afternoon.  Some of the light effects on the water during the day from the cloud and sun have been quite dramatic.

A cruise ship came in for the morning called Costa Marina.  When Richard looked it up on the web site he discovered it had a web cam but it was just at the wrong angle to see Pyxis.  Anyone watching when it went out at lunchtime would have seen us though.

We watched the progress of the ship on the web cam periodically over the afternoon, interested in where it may be heading and even more interested in the reported weather conditions from the ship.  In port the wind has been quite light but the offshore forecast for NE of here was F7-8 (too windy for us).  The reports coming in from the Costa Marina however were showing an actual of F9-10 (severe gale conditions) not far offshore.  So, a good decision not to go out today we thought.

Tonight it was cool enough for me to use the oven so I treated us to some home made pasties.  Having the generator was a boon as usual as I was able to cook the potatoes and vegetables in the microwave whilst we were re-charging the batteries.
