Friday 5th September – Mahón, Menorca

A domestic day today - the wind was gusting quite strongly (despite us being in a very sheltered spot on the island) and so we spent the day on board doing some much needed jobs.

As we had not been aboard yesterday, we hadn’t run the generator which meant that the batteries needed some juice so we ran it for 4 hours and got them near the 100% mark.

I decided to wash the bedding and put it to soak for an hour or so in the bucket on deck.  We did some cleaning and admin down below whilst the generator did its bit.  Then, after finishing washing the bedding, I went on laundry watch to make sure that I didn’t lose anything off the guard rails (still not allowed to use the washing line as we are trying to present an acceptable appearance given our prominent position).

Laundry watch was quite a feat at times as the wind was gusting up to 26 knots and even though I had nine pegs on the duvet cover, I almost lost it and had to leap to the rescue.

Early evening Richard brought me a G&T on the foredeck to help me cope with the strenuous activity (plus one for himself of course) as we watched the world go by.  This evening we have had dinner on board.
