Wednesday 3rd September – Mahón, Menorca (The day of the big ships)

Today started with the big ferry rumbling past around 07.30, then another one arrived, then another...  then a few hours later they went out again.  We find it interesting rather than irritating.  They pass very close to where we are moored but are going very slowly and create very little wash, we get more swell from the glass-bottomed tourist boats and rib-boats going past.

Around midday we looked up to see that a Thompson cruise ship had arrived and amazingly was spinning in the narrow channel just around the corner from us.  We think the town and the gin factory will be very busy this afternoon.

We have stayed on board most of the day catching up with some much needed cleaning and tidying.  Given our prominent position near the cruise ship we have decided not to hang all our washing out on the washing line by the bow as we normally do – we think we may ruin too many photos.

Later this afternoon we relaxed on deck with some Pomada from the gin factory, hic.  This evening we waved the Thompson ship off as it went by us nice and close (well, I waved to some people who were waving at me).
