Sunday 17th August – Cala de Santa Ponsa, Mallorca

This morning I took the dinghy into town early to get us pan au chocolat for breakfast and we had a quiet morning before tackling some washing.

After the washing had dried this afternoon, Peter and Carola popped round for a drink.  After a couple of bottles of wine we made a spontaneous decision to go ashore for food, so off we all went in the rib boat.

We parked in the marina and headed towards the restaurant that we had been to before; however, we then walked past as the boys decided to look at the other restaurants further on.  There was a queue for the Dutch restaurant they fancied so we found ourselves in a bar with a very nice lady with a good voice singing live music – the bar also promised Rob Stewart later.

After we had enjoyed ourselves for a while, we remembered that we needed food and so we went a few doors back to the Dutch restaurant which now had space.  Following food we went back to the bar to hear Rob singing his last song ‘Sailing’ which of course we really enjoyed and sang along.

Then the problems started – it turned into a karaoke evening!  The place was very small and no-one was any good and no-one escaped, including us.  Richard did a very good ‘Jumping Jack Flash’ and I did a very bad ‘Satisfaction’.  This was our first ever and it will probably be my last – I will stick to singing in the shower.

As everyone was in the same state, we all sang along with everyone else and everyone had a great time – even the organiser did a George Formby number.  Peter did a great Sweet Caroline and had everyone up dancing – he was particularly popular with the old ladies – not sure he’ll want to be reminded of that!

Anyway, it was about 3.30am when we turned in but we all agreed it was a fabulous night.
