Sunday 6th July – Punta de l’ Avançada, Mallorca

Last night we had a fitful night’s sleep as the castle on the point where we are moored was having a big party which seemed to get louder around 4am went on until around 6am – well we are in Spain in the summer I guess.

After a morning sorting out a few jobs on Pyxis we had lunch and then took the dinghy across to Peurto de Polença, the local town and tourist resort, and parked ourselves in a bar for the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final.

When rain stopped play in the third set, we went for a walk along the beach front and then retired to an English café for fish and chips to see how they compared with the ones at Gibraltar; the ones in Gibraltar had the edge J

As we finished, play started again at Wimbledon and so we crossed the street to an Irish bar for a Guinness and to watch the rest of the match on the large screen they had (yes, it really is that touristy here).

We were all sorry that Federer didn’t win, as he was the one we were supporting, but, more to the point, let’s just hope Nadal sorts out his underwear problem before next year.

On the way back we had run out of daylight and we had a very dark passage back across the bay to Pyxis and Moonshadow, the two dinghies travelling in parallel across the flat open sea, with no wind, with the light-house flashing at the end of the promontory, and just some lights on the hill and the odd mooring light to guide the way – it was lovely.

Trying the cruisung chute; Punta de l’ Avançada
