Wednesday 11th June – Alicante - Dénia

Last night we had a short walk around town in Alicante – we needed the fresh air after we’d heard how much the night in the marina was going to cost us!  It was the most expensive marina so far but we were only staying one night.

We left Alicante at 8am this morning passing the Sultan of Brunei’s brand new yacht and shadow yacht (the one with all the toys in) en route – given the size of it, we think cruise liner would be a better description; it had apparently arrived 4 or 5 days ago and we wonder if we have seen it before he has.  Still, we guess he can better afford the marina fees than us.

After leaving the harbour we found no wind and no swell for the first half of the day – quite a change from the afternoon before.  Today we passed Benidorm and crossed the Greenwich Meridian – I now have to remember to enter East on the log instead of West.

We tried a couple of times to get the sails out and make way but to no avail, the wind was either non-existent or remained stubbornly on the nose, the motor stayed on and we arrived at Dénia this evening just after 6pm.

This evening we are very tired after two days of sailing and are enjoying a relaxing evening aboard and an early night.

We have seen Wandering Dragon is here and hope to catch up with them tomorrow when we are awake.

Important PS:  the marina here is cheaper than Alicante and the shower facilities are THE best so far – individual large cubicles with toilet, shower and sink and enough room to swing a very large, long tailed cat (with apologies to Yoyo and Koshka) J
