Thursday 5th June – Isla Perdiguera, Mar Menor

Pleased to say that last night the citronella candle flushed out a mossie and I whacked it before going to bed.  The prototype mossie net, whilst not being a contender for fashion week, was a success in keeping the fiends out and so today I made another one so that I can now leave two hatches open.  This is very important at the moment as I’m writing this blog in a temperature of 27 Celsius down below, 24 Celsius on deck.

It was such a beautiful day that, as soon as I got out of bed, it was bikini time and I was still wearing it gone 9pm – summer is here!  Well, for the moment anyway.

We had a great day on board pottering around sorting various jobs.  This afternoon Richard put the engine on the dinghy and went for a burst around the island to explore.

This morning we had no wind at all but during this afternoon the wind was a definite SW F4/5 and there was quite a chop – just as we were deciding whether to move around to the other side of the island the wind subsided altogether; good news as the wind is due to go right around NE this evening and we didn’t want to have to move back again.

This evening we went to the island to have a walk around.  On the way past we said ‘Hello’ to Moonshadow who invited us to call in on the way back for a sun-downer which we duly did.

We are now having a quiet evening on board and I am employing the citronella candle and both mossie nets tonight.
