Tuesday 14th August – Brest

48:23.553N 4:25.816W

The weather really deteriorated last night and we were hanging on by the cleats as it were with winds reaching force 7-8 - thankfully we were being blown off the pontoon.  The rain and howling wind continued all night and gave us a fitful night’s sleep.

We got out of bed this morning, rather than awoke, and the bad weather continued unabated all day.  I left the boat once only, to pay our mooring fee and swap our empty gaz canister – by the time I returned, I was soaked.

The wi-fi reaches our berth – just – but the signal is a bit weak and disappears at times.  It means that with a little patience we can just about use the internet but calls are difficult to make.  With the rain and wind outside, this is good enough for us.

There was a small abatement at dusk, around 9.30-10pm so we were able to sit and have a quiet drink and dinner in the cockpit enclosure without being deafened by the beating of the rain on the roof.  Back to the deafening stuff tonight according to the forecast so we may be trying out the ear-plugs!

Forecast is more of the same for tomorrow.
