Sunday 29th July – Fowey - Falmouth

This morning the weather cleared and we said a fond farewell to our friends on Sea Dream who are setting off back homeward - tonight they should be visiting the River Yealm.

After they had left we slipped our lines and made our way out of Fowey and set course towards Falmouth.  After last night’s weather, the wind had eased completely and so we ended up motoring the whole way.  On the plus side, the sun was shining most of the way.

Once past the Bellows, we cut the engine and Karen caught four mackerel on the first cast and one more on the second.  This allowed Richard to motor on again whilst Karen cleaned and gutted the fish.  They are in the fridge and we will eat them over the next couple of days.

As we entered Falmouth Harbour the forecast N/ NW 3-4 wind kicked in – a few hours earlier and we would have been able to sail all the way!

We are now alongside in Falmouth Marina which is located up the Penryn River. Richard is about to get the bucket and brush out and give the decks a well needed rinse.
