Saturday 10th September – Messolonghi

This morning Richard went looking for something in the smaller lazarette and spent the rest of the day sorting it out and tidying around as it spawned other jobs...  using the water from the spare water containers to soak the genoa sheets, using the distilled water to top up the engine battery, etc. etc.  We also continued with the washing mountain.

I have tackled the stern heads which are also now looking much cleaner and smelling much fresher.

Late afternoon we pickled the water maker…  flushing everything through with fresh water, running pickling solution into the membrane, removing the old filters and cleaning the filter housings.

It is still really hot, making it difficult to work – part way through the afternoon I went to the shower block for a cold shower but the cold water was too warm to cool me down!  The pipes must be too close to the surface.

This evening we decided to get off the boat and went for a walk into town as Richard wanted to see if the car accessory shop was still open so we could get some wax car wash to use on Pyxis.  Gavin and Mary joined us as well as Gavin wanted to see what the car shop had in stock.

Mary and I settled ourselves at the Sugar Café with a beer and meze rather than walk all the way to the car accessory shop.  When the guys returned, it was without anything as they discovered that the shop is closed all day on Saturdays, but the beer and meze were as good if not better than we remembered them J
