Sunday 4th September – Corinth – Nisís Trizónia

38:22.163N 22:04.547E

The forecast was for an east to north easterly F4-5 through the gulf so we set off early morning, having strapped everything down, expecting a lively passage given our previous experiences with the wind funnelling through the gulf.

However, as we left everything was still, no sign of the predicted F5.  We headed out, eventually picked up a little wind by the first headland which promptly disappeared, and then there was almost no wind for most of the passage – just a little swell from time to time.  We had a short run on the genoa just after lunch when a south easterly F3-4 blew up for a while and we were able to give the motor a rest.  I can’t remember a time when the forecast was so wrong.

We arrived here at Trizónia late afternoon and berthed alongside in our favourite part of the harbour – from outside the harbour looked busy, but once in there was plenty of space.  This is the first time we have come into Trizónia without strong winds blowing.

Tonight we ate ashore at one of the tavernas with wifi so we have been able to update the laptop, Skype the P’s, and get the weather forecast.

We have been travelling solidly for the last week and so will stay here a day or two to take a break before heading off again.
