Thursday 1st September – Voufalo, Evia – Lavrion

37:42.733N 24:03.598E

We left Voufalo at 7.30am for a long trip down the coast.  There was a lot of swell as we set out, implying there had been quite a lot of wind over night – we had heard the wind start at around 4am but our sheltered anchorage was well protected.

Once underway, with a F4 from astern, we pulled out the genoa and ran down the Evia channel.  As we crossed the channel we were rocking in the swell but as we entered the lee of the mainland coast it eased and we had very a comfortable run.  The wind stayed with us until just after lunchtime so we then motored for the last couple of hours here to Lavrion.

We were signalled in by the port authority to a berth with a tailed line, the only proviso was that we could only stay in that berth overnight as tomorrow it is needed by the returning charter boats.  The port fees here are more expensive than we expected but not excessive.

Richard went for a walk around the harbour and spotted Arwen berthed further around on the quay and so went to say hello to Jacky and Rob who we had last seen in Çanakkale.

This evening we went round for drinks to catch up on news.  Afterwards Richard went off in search of some fresh bread and I came back and cooked a Thai curry.
