Sunday 29th May – Mykonos

A quieter night and we slept well.  This morning our Swedish neighbours decided to take advantage of a lull and go out to anchor, for a change of scenery, with a view to heading off in a couple of days.  Needless to say at this stage, Starlight discovered that its anchor was fouled and Mats spent the next half hour giving everyone on the quay a master-class in how to retrieve a fouled anchor (he has been helping everyone else, so we were fairly relaxed that he would be able to do it – and he did).

We have spent the day giving Pyxis a spring clean in the hope that we will be able to carry on in a couple of days.  Richard has scrubbed the deck and cleaned the windows on the sprayhood and cockpit enclosure after the rains, and we have topped up the water tanks and brought my bike back on board.

During the day a catamaran tried to come in alongside; the chap was on his own and having difficulties berthing in the brisk wind that had returned, so one of the locals leapt aboard to assist.  Unfortunately one of his props caught on the lazy line he was picking up as he came in and sadly, another gel coat casualty was claimed by the quay.  He went off to the basin to berth when he had cleared his prop.

The marinaro said that tomorrow a diver is coming to start sorting out the lazy lines and so he has been putting the new arrivals on the quays in the basin this evening (where it is also easier to berth as the wind is astern) – unfortunately it means they do not have access to electricity or water there.

This evening we went around to the taverna opposite the marina for a drink; it has a great view out across the marina.  Whilst there we met up with the guy off the catamaran, a cheerful chap, on his way to Turkey.
