Monday 20^th September – Messolonghi (Acclimatisation)

We gave the P’s the morning to acclimatise to the heat and the two hour time change before taking them on a walk around the marina.  Whilst the temperature has dropped quite a bit for us, it is still around the 30s and a shock for someone arriving from the UK.

In the afternoon we took them for a drive around the local sites.  We went down to the beach at Tourlida, stopping en-route at the mud bath and driving past the pelades (houses on stilts) on the banks of the lagoon, and then had a drive around town, visiting the Heroes Garden.

In the evening we had a walk into town for some food at one of the tavernas.  Unfortunately the walk didn’t go down too well with the P’s, it being a long walk in what felt to them a still too high a temperature.  The taverna made up for it however – the food and service were very good and at the end we were brought complimentary drinks by the waiter.  As we left we were being offered ice cream too but we were full.
