Wednesday 8th September – Messolonghi – Póros, Kefalonia

Today we were up early and set off on Blue Elephant again.  With her hull clean, we immediately noticed a significant increase in boat speed; all was back to normal.  So, we motored on in flat seas, with no wind, to Póros on Kefalonia, arriving around 2.30pm

There were only a couple of yachts berthed in the small harbour when we arrived so we took our time sounding the depths near the town quay wall as we remembered from our visit with Pyxis that it is quite shallow in places; we selected a good spot and went stern-to the quay.

It was very hot and still in harbour but fortunately there was a hose on the quay with which we were able to hose ourselves down.  During the afternoon and evening the port filled with yachts so we were pleased to have arrived when we did.

Early evening we went for a walk into the village for a look around and then called at a taverna on the way back.  We enjoyed a drink in the taverna, with a meze of cheese pies, looking out to sea as the sun went down.

We came back to Blue Elephant for dinner and fell into bed tired after a long day.
