Wednesday 18th August – Messolonghi (A year on)

It is one year today since we first arrived at Messolonghi.  Last year we arrived just as they were opening the first building – they invited the local priest for a blessing ceremony.  There have been quite a few changes since then – there are new pontoons, electricity, new showers and toilets, and a lot more boats.  It is a double celebration as it is one of the marina owners birthday today – I baked him a cake to celebrate.

Today a number of boats have been going in or coming out of the water.  Our neighbours were asked to move out for a few hours so they could use the quay beside their boat for the crane.  They came back in whilst Richard was away shopping but fortunately they missed our lazy line this time.

This afternoon the new tractor and 40 ton hydraulic trailer arrived – this will be used to haul boats across the yard after they have been lifted by the crane.  It was put through its paces this afternoon with a large long keeler.
