Tuesday 27th July – Messolonghi (Spring cleaning continues…)

We woke up really early, around 5am, and couldn’t sleep, so we decided that we may as well get up and do something productive before the day heated up.  So we continued with the spring clean we have been threatening.

First of all we took down all the curtains and stripped the covers off all the cushions.  It was quite a challenge clearing the back cabin sufficiently to get to get the bunk cushions out so we could get the covers off those as well.  By the time we finished it was virtually impossible to move around the main cabin.

After watching the sun rise, we were the first to the washing machine, not surprisingly.  We washed all the seat covers and the curtains and had them dry by lunchtime.  Whilst the covers were drying, Richard popped into town to change the gaz bottle and for a few bits from the hardware store.

When he got back, we gave the decks a rinse to get the dust off before starting on the challenge of putting everything back together again down below.  It was quite a marathon effort getting the right curtains back in the right places, the right shaped foam back in the right cushion cover, not to mention the task of re-stowing the back cabin.  It was early evening by the time all was finished and we finally had a chance to sit down with a drink – we felt quite pleased with ourselves, and the boat is much fresher.

We had quite a sociable afternoon as various people have wandered past and stopped to chat whilst we have been working.  This afternoon the Spanish couple we were travelling with, Victoria and Ricardo on Ricart III arrived back in the marina, and this evening Victoria came to visit on her way past for a catch up chat.

Late this evening Richard was on a roll and cooked curry again.
