Friday 18th June – Khania, Crete

After a leisurely breakfast, some book on deck and a late lunch due to the late arrival back of Richard, who had been for an explore along the coast and then spent the rest of the morning in the air-conditioned supermarket (a coincidence he assures me) restocking, I spent the afternoon down below, hiding from the heat, constructing the second new mosquito net for one of the hatches.

Richard installed the wind scoop to try to send a bit more air down below but it is still very hot, but a little cooler than yesterday (mid rather than late 30’s).  We went for a sundowner with our Dutch neighbours who have spent the day recovering from their hike through the Samaria Gorge yesterday.

A very large motor boat came in yesterday and is occupying the wall that is usually used by a large trip boat and the fishing boats; consequently they have all been displaced, and the trip boat is having to come alongside the wall where the yachts berth, blocking the space normally available for several transit yachts stern-to.

Just as we left to come back to Pyxis for dinner, a very large Swiss yacht arrived looking for a berth and three of us (us, our Dutch neighbour and their Dutch neighbour on the other side, moved our lines around to squeeze this rather large boat between us before we were all able to get back to our dinners.

Dinner was a little later than planned…
