Wednesday 2nd June – Monemvasía

This morning we ran the generator again and the batteries are now fully charged and happy.  We found water at one corner of the harbour and so have topped up the water tank we have been using; Richard has back-flushed the water maker as we shouldn’t need it whilst we are here now we have water available on the quay.

This afternoon Richard went for a walk to the local petrol station just across the causeway with a couple of cans and he has topped up the diesel after our marathon motoring session down here.  The price was even slightly cheaper than the last lot so we were happy; the mini-tanker delivering diesel to the harbour is charging 10 cents per litre more than the petrol station so we decided it was worth the walk.

So with full tanks and batteries, we showered and went for a late afternoon/evening walk back to the old village of Monemvasía to take in the early evening views, see some more of the area and soak up the atmosphere; turned out not to be as busy as we thought, but the lighting of the buildings and on the rock was lovely in the evening sun.

We arrived back at Pyxis quite late for dinner and just after we finished dinner in the cockpit (around 10.30pm) the wind kicked in with a vengeance and we are now being pinned to the pontoon once again.  With the howling noise it could be a restless night.
