After a whole week on hook Deshaies we're underway again heading northwards towards Antigua. Deshaies being a lovely place to hang-out, safe ashore and very French. Time to move-on though because we have a silverbird to catch in couple weeks. We're aiming towards English harbour on S coast Antigua, from where we'll work our way ACW round the island until we get to Jolly Harbour in a week or so's time. We have a berth booked in Jolly Harbour Marina and naturally have an assortment of jobs to do before hometime. On t'other hand we don't want to be in an overly-hot marina too early either otherwise my Lover will not be a happy bunny!
We're blessed today, thus far, with only 1m swell just F3 E'ly so we're on full genoa and mainsl. We were making really good speed, averaging up to 7kn.
Last night Sue says "Put the alarm on" although it wasn't necessary (so I didn't) because as usual, I awoke first light and we were up and underway before 0630 so that we can be on hook again, just over 42NM northwards, early afternoon.
We checked-out of Guadaloupe coule days ago with the intention of nipping ashore again yesterday. We didn't though because I got stuck into investigating further - our autopilot problems. We have a new Lewmar Mamba-drive autopilot motor on order with Discovery Yachts, nevertheless thus far I've been unable to find obviously wrong with the motor we have. Not helped by Lewmar's apparent reluctance to support this product with quality service, inspection, parts and maintenance/repairs information. My efforts yesterday have finally gained us a most significant improvement and we are now testing the fruits of our labour, fingers crossed!
Recent emails from family indicate spring has arrives in Lancashire. Here's hoping this trend continues - otherwise us mere mortals are gonna suffer if it's cold and wet when we're home soon!
Love to R,S,M & T and J,F,P & S. Also......... happy Birthday to 'scuffer' Andrew!
