A lovely relaxing day (day 2) in Lakka. Nipped ashore this morning for some fresh veg and also to get some local bread and pies. Good chat with family Higgins on Skype before lunch. Seems UK is having more than fair share of rain lately (again)! During the afternoon successfully stripped and cleaned outboard carburettor, 2nd time I've had it in bits this month, although this time I had some recently purchased carb-cleaner at the ready. Magnificent stuff. Melted my condom gloves to bits and cleaned the jets a treat. It has to be a health risk to be this good? Proof, of course, is in the pudding and I'm pleased to say "Outboard now runs better than ever. Ticks-over slowly when needed and goes fast enough to grow horns when the throttle is opened-up". Like new again and brill'.
On a sailing yacht, no sooner is one outstanding job put to bed..................... then another makes it's self known!  Our windlass foot-switch buttons are almost shot!  During the build, DYL said "Our buttons are more reliable than a hand-remote will be", Three years on we're not so sure because just three years is a poor life expectancy for the buttons and reflects badly on the Lewmar product. Up until now Lewmar have free-issued replacement items, although sadly no longer willing to. Not only that, even offering us 40% discount, replacement buttons (because they no longer make the ones we have) at £90 each are nearly 10 times more costly than buttons made by Lofrans or Quick. Hence I will need to do a little more investigation on the internet before choosing what to fit next.
Visited by Neil, who has his family including three young girls, on their s/y Infinity. As they entered today they recognised our AIS transmission. I did a long range communications training course with Neil at YachtCom 2 years ago.
Sue's had 2 x swims today. It has been quite hot this afternoon, over 30ºC for most of the afternoon and almost clear skies.
Tomorrow we will probably move a little further north so that we are nearer towards our destination for Sue's short transfer to Corfu airport for her flight home on Saturday. Can't do too much for a good woman.
Night night Sophie, Freya, Seth and the little one soon to make an entrance! xxxxx
