New Bedford was once the whaling capital of the world. The whaling
museum there is definitely worth a visit.
The harbour is bordered by New Bedford and Fairhaven and, while the chart
is clear about where the anchorages are, the harbourmasters from each side
disagree. We got a welcome pack from the New Bedford harbourmaster and
then got moved on by the Fairhaven harbourmaster. We ended up going
through the railway swing bridge into the inner lagoon.

transmission fluid until it was banned in 1972.
