The wind has been 23 to 28 knots all day so we have been sailing defensively, with two reefs in the genoa and mainsail.

The Indian Ocean is so far living up to its reputation for uncomfortable waves.  They are not particularly big waves, perhaps 3 metres high right now, but they are made up of a combination of waves coming from the east, generated by the prevailing wind, plus waves coming from the south that are apparently the remnants of the monster swell in the Southern Ocean.

It has also been raining on and off all day.  Mauritius seems like a long way away.
