We are still at a mooring in Nevis, outside Pinney Beach. We decided today that we should go by ferry to St. Kitts. That was a good decision. Anchoring outside Bassetterre seemed either charming or comfortable. And the marina with its 4 berths for visitors was full.
Basseterre itself was ok. We liked the town, it has many pretty buildings. Two big cruise ships were at the dock, and the port and the nearest surroundings were full with cruise tourists. Not that we have anything against cruise tourists, but the crowd sets the mood in the town.
Tomorrow we shall go there once more, by ferry. We plan to get further into the island, which Colombus named after himself, St. Christopher, better known as St. Kitts today.
We like Nevis. Before we came here we read that we should be careful not to trust the moorings. And that was for a good reason, the port officer told us what mooring to go to, and we had to change from the one we originally had chosen. But the port police are repairing them, probably they in a short time are all in good conditions. And in these two islands we think that this is by far the best place to tie up.
