A sad accident

Tatt av vinden

Yesterday I got the message that my eldest son is dead. He would have been
30 the 1. July. It is no cliché or exaggeration to say he was a wanderful
man. The loss seems unbearable. He and I were very close. Possibly as close
as father and son can be. He leaves a black open void in my heart.

But, in the long run, I know I would be a traitor to the true memory of
Aleksander if I nourished the sorrow and the pain more than the beautiful
memories he leaves behind.

It is good not to be alone now. Today Eva and I shall leave "Tatt av vinden"
here in Horta and go home by plane. We plan to return in about two weeks to
sail to Norway, via Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
Aleksander had planned to sail with us the last few legs on the Swedish
westcoast, which he loved from childhood. Now he only will be there in our
hearts, because that is where he lives now. And his younger brother, Gregor,
will join us.
