Union island

We are not much different from all the others we have talked to: We think
Union island is lovely.

The anchorage in Clifton harbour is lovely too. We have walked the island
and we have snorkeled the reef (good for swimming, but not too much to see),
and we have discovered that the prices are much higher here than in Grenada.
But yellow, ripe papaya is available, it's not too expensive, and we love
it.

We tried to buy a small fish (2kg) for the soup. But the guy demanded 80
EC$. So it had to be frozen shrimps in the soup.

On our walk around the island we noticed several projects, mostly houses,
that were left half finished. First we thought it was the recession, but a
closer look revieled that most of them must have been stopped more than a
year ago. In some houses people seem to live ustairs while it is empty
downstairs. We don't know the reason, but possibly people emmigrate if they
have an opportunity?

At the Anchorage Yacht club they have a pond with sharks. 2 - 2,5 m long
they look frightening to us. But in fact we don't know if they are
dangerous.

Though it is beautiful here we will probably soon move on, If the weather is
good - that means not too strong winds - we'll go to Tobago cays. Otherwise
it will be Bequia.
