Tanna sighted after lunch emerging from the cloud. Got a little lift as we aproached the coast but not enough to make the southern tip so motorsailed the last few hours looking at the steam rising from the forest in several places. As it got dark we could see the orange glow of the volcano cloud appearing intermittently, 20secs of dark and then about 30 seconds of glow. We arrived about 11pm off Port resolution but decided to anchor just outside. It is quite a small bay and we could see some lights but were unsure how difficult the anchorage would be.
