Picked up the hire car from Apex 1st thing and made south for Rotarua. We stoped for a nice walk up to Okere Falls on the river north of lake Rotarua.

A raft trip was in progress made more interesting by 3 chaps who tried the short descent in an inflateable canoe and emerged from the falls in 4 unattached separate entities.
The raft photographer tutted that they wern't wearing helmets but fortunately had lifejackets or we may have been drawn into a rescue exercise.
The bnb was quite a way out of Rotarua - a roomy self contained  suite on the side of a modern house. It had a good kitchen but we opted to take the owners recommendation for a take away curry  from the local indian restaurant. The suggestion proved good, the meal lasted 2 days,  and we used the plastic containers for sandwiches for the rest of our tour.
