Caracol  was once the most populated city in Belize, more even than Belize City is now. England has offered to put a paved road in but as things stand we did not think it worth the drive. Apparently if the opposition gets in they will not accept the money from the UK. So it was a bit of a disappointing day.

Plus the key stuck in the ignition of the hire car. We called the hire company and they came and got the key out. We asked what would happen if it got stuck again as we were going on a day trip the next day and would have to leave the car in the town car park. They reassured us it wouldn’t happen again.
So, of course, we turn up for our tour and the key is stuck again. So we call the company and tell them we will have to leave the car for the day in the car park unlocked and move our bags into the tour company office. We got a replacement car on our return.
