Onwards to the Beaches
This park has the most stunning marine areas with petroglyphs, rock pools galore, the giant green anemone and so on. One of the coastal campgrounds was so quiet and beautiful; full of black tailed deer with young. All the beaches had tsunami warnings, massive driftwood piles, strange rocks everywhere and crashing waves. Rialto beach is very foggy, but the coastal walks at Ozette had miles of the smelliest decomposing seaweed we’ve ever encountered. The stench took hours to clear from our heads and nostrils. Stunning wild landscape, we even had a bear sitting in the road just outside the campground. Driving to Ozette has the strangest road signs of all including, ‘No Vampires beyond this point’. The Twilight series of films were filmed in this area. Crossing the treaty line took us to the home of the Quilante tribe and home of Jacob and his pack (the werewolves). First Beach is where Bella first learned the story of ‘the cold ones’.
