Now we've turned the corner, having joined the
traditional Tahiti-Panama route, around Easter Island. Our first part of the
journey involved very difficult conditions; bad sea states, numerous storms and
fronts, often with adverse wind directions. Now we've left the stormy area and
have to try to avoid being becalmed by the South Pacific High, before getting to
the trade winds - yet another challenge.
We've managed to find a wind bridge across the High
area and are heading north towards the trade winds, hopefully avoiding being
becalmed for up to ten days, for which we are mightily
grateful!
