Surely no visit is complete without a view of the military planes 'doing the jedi'. Having watches a B52 refuelling at 30,000ft we then had 2 planes do 'the jedi', weaving between the canyon walls.
To set the scene, this place is full of airplane spotters who tune into the pilots' radio and wait for the word's 'low level' combined with 'south'. This is followed by a dog who starts barking just before you can see a dot in the sky. A spotter waves the US flag each time a plane passes. People literally wait all day in the hope of a fly by. The speed at which the planes zoom through the canyon is amazing.
