Hanga Roa is the main town and our base for this
trip. There are plenty of Moai within walking distance and even a large one with
hat and eyes. The eyes are made out of coral and obsidian and the hats
(probably top knot hairstyles) are made out of a red stone - both are only added
after the moai is in place. If a moai falls over before being placed, it is
abandoned as the good luck associated with it will be lost.
 These moai are on an ahu (cereomonial
platform)
 The local swimming pool is great, made out of rock,
filled by the sea with plenty of modern scuplture around it.
  The town is now catholic with the usual crosses
overlooking it.
