The southerly breeze encouraged us to move to Leverick Bay for a day of rum. Deep joy for Caroline at the discovery of washing machines at Pusser's Landing.
The idea was to catch up on computer stuff and have a cocktail. The machine hadn't finished and yet another cocktail passed our lips. Then it seemed sensible to tumble dry as much washing as possible. Then Michael 'Bean' Gardner turned up to do his pre-show warm up and was joined in an impromptu session by a Chicago Blues player. The music was great, really great.
So then we booked a table for the Bean show. Popped back to the boat, re-anchored as we had moved rather a lot and returned just in time for happy hour and a 2 hour cheesey pirate based show (Happy Arrr) of sea shanties and other sailing songs, with a conch blowing competition. Helen was duly nominated to represent our table and managed to blow the conch (yay) for 7 seconds. The winning lady managed an amazing 68 seconds, outstripping the mens' performance.
Every song was the sort of song a drunk would sing, well suited to this audience and every joke had the same punchline – Arrr. Lily would have loved the Pirate jokes to add to her repertoire (Why are pirates called pirates? Because they arrr). We did feel like a bit like we were in a holiday camp.
There were a lot of happy Americans all talking about how Trump would make America great again.
A meal out followed this show –. A very chilled out day.
